The State Duma is planning to consider a number of bills that should help clients of banks and microfinance organizations cope with their debt obligations. We are talking about individuals using consumer lending services. Basically, the changes proposed in the projects will concern those borrowers who have difficulty in repaying the loan.
In one of the documents, the authors propose to consider the possibility of granting an interruption in the payment of principal on the loan. Such a deferment will be available for up to three months, having fulfilled, of course, the condition – to pay interest on the loan.
Another proposal refers to the prioritization of payment on a loan. According to the authors of the bill, at the moment, banking organizations require from their clients a not entirely humane procedure for payment.
They insist that the so-called cost of the loan be paid in the first place — the amount of interest, then the principal debt, and after that all the penalties can be closed. Such requirements are often inconvenient and can have a detrimental effect on the welfare of the borrower. It is necessary to change the sequence of various loan payments so that the consumer can feel the protection of the law.
And last but not least, the document proposes to establish a clear limit on the possible maximum amount that the borrower must pay. According to the developers of the bill, a bank customer must know for sure that more than three times the overpayment on a loan cannot be.
It is possible that in December of this year, the official consideration of these proposals in the State Duma will begin.
